Card #3199 Okay, here is a way to eliminate the crease lines from the embossing folders. This will work for ANY size folder.

You need a red sheet of rubber from Lowes called Rubber Packing Sheet. It measures 6" x 6" x 1/8" and costs 1.37 each. I am sure Home Depot has it too. It needs to be 1/8" thick. It is in the plumbing dept. You can also use 1/16" rubber sheet and the C PLATE, if you can*t find the 1/8".

1. Cut the rubber sheet slightly shorter and slightly less wide than the folder. The cut rubber sheet will redistribute the pressure to the middle of the folder where the design is, and take it away from the edges where the crease lines are created using just the folder in the cuttlebug.

2. Stick that cut piece of rubber to the folder with glue dots or double stick tape

Card #3197 3. Because the 1/8" red rubber piece REPLACES the 2nd B Plate in the embossing process, (due to the width restrictions when rolling the plate through the machine), you will assemble the plates as follows:

A Plate

Embossing folder with red rubber attached and paper inside

B plate (only one)

Run it through the Cuttlebug and voila!

No crease!

Card #3196 Shim the plate recipe with one layer of cardstock if the impression is not deep enough for you.

Cut one red sheet for each size of embossing folder and just change them up with each folder.

This original idea of the "plate" revision came from StampinJay on Gingerwood. She used craft sticks. I then tried cutting a spare B Plate and that worked well, but Mrs C. on GW came up with the idea of the 1/8" thick red rubber. It works better and is do-able for everyone.

Card #3124 Open the folder and cut slowly, following the dot pattern. If you have one with a random pattern, draw a line with a fine point sharpie on the entire folder, and carefully cut

Card #2891 I have been getting a lot of inquiries about the Lasting Impressions Pre-embossed foldover notes, asking if they were done with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Folder.

Those are not, but look what I came up with this morning.

This is interesting.

I used a 5.5" square single layer CS, embossed the square frame Nestabilities die in the middle (well sort of the middle...) of the card so that it does not cut through the paper (that is another procedure, linked below), then used the swiss dots folder to emboss dots AROUND that center square. I aligned the dots, embossed and then re-aligned them to complete the design all around the middle square. It will take some more aligning and some more figuring, but this is entirely possible.

ALSO NOTE:

1. With the overlap, some of the dots get squished, so turn the embossed cardstock over, lay it on top of a mousepad or a coaster and use a ball tipped embossing tool and GENTLY push the dots back out. (Sharon Johnson*s idea!)

What do you think? Until someone comes up with an embossing folder, this might work. Let me know if you try this.

This is my first try and needs perfecting, and you will also notice the square in the middle is partially cut...I did not have the die shimmed well enough to prevent that. Will do better next time.

Here is the tutorial on how to make an embossed frame with the Nestabilities.

Scroll down a little bit.

After this is completed, adhere that to a folded card and noone will ever know you did it yourself!

Place the small embossing folder where you want it embossed. Run it thru the Cuttlebug. In order to avoid the crease mark from the top edge of the folder, when you feel the roller getting close to the edge of the folder, back the roller off and reverse the roller so it comes back out the way it went in. If that does not work, add a layer of thin paper underneath the cardstock and that may eliminate the crease.
