I cut the top part off, that incorporates the flap area, 1 1/4" to create the lid

I cut the paper at 4 1/2" x 12" and scored at 3" 6" and 9" with another score line at 1 1/2" along one long edge. Cut like the one on the instructions, except that I did not add the 1/2" overlap tab, because the paper is not long enough, but once glued to the top it is fine.
