I have all sorts of issues with watercoloring, specifically the paper. So I decided to try Beckett Expression 130 lb. Radiance and watercolor pencils with a Tombow 00 Clear Blender Pen. I colored directly on the paper, didn't like the results, used a Dove Blender, nope, and eventually tried picking up the color directly from the pencil with the tip of the Tombow blender pen agaon, and was "happy" with the results. I still like the MCPT better!
